Kristiina Meiner
Kristiina
has been sculpting for 3 years now and is fast becoming a very
accomplished artist in our OOAK community. Her use of materials and
color add depth and imagination to her work. Her truly unique style and
signature look is instantly recognizable. An artist to watch, Kristiina
continues to grow and shine and we can't wait to see what the future
holds for Kristiina!
One of my
friends told me about polymer clay. So I began to study this material
and look for tutorials on the Internet, but I did not feel inspired to
make jewelry. One day I found a tutorial how to make a little angel. My
first reaction was that it is very difficult for me. But I started
thinking about it and about a month later decided to try. And I realized
that this is what I want to always do. That's it! Happy Day . Then I
went to look and found a lot of tutorials how to make BJD dolls. So I
tried... it turned out so badly! But it taught me to work with the
material and also that this kind of dolls does not work for me, it's not
my Art. I love the sculpture instead, I like the finished image.
I sculpt
in the afternoon. I get up in the morning, get my children to school and
kindergarten and begin to work while they are not home. I do not know
where my ideas come for modeling , I just feel that when I finish one,
another sculpture already wants to be born :).
My work can be purchased on eBay , through my blog or simply contacting me and for Russia through Ярмарка Мастеров
I like to start to sculpt the face, it helps me to understand the dolls character.
Sometimes I look for inspiration in paintings, looking at pictures on the internet, but most of the ideas come into my head.
As I sculpt I listen to audio books and I sculpt during the day.
All of my
works are sculpted from professional polymer clay. All dolls are built
with a wire armature for strength and the figures are padded out with
foil . They all are made without use of any molds . 100% One Of A Kind.
For blushing I use Genesis and acrylic. For hair I use Tibetan Mohair or
silk, eyes are hand painted by me. Standing (in a standing position)
they would be 8"-12" (20cm-30cm) high.
Sadly , My
father died when I was 2.5 years, and he was 29 years old. I do not
remember him but I have a few of his art works, one of which I want to
share , it’s a self-portrait. He was also a self-taught artist. This
painting hangs in my bedroom.
I live in Tallinn, the Capitol city of a small country called Estonia.
I have two
wonderful sons . One of my sons is 10 years old, he is a schoolboy. And
my other son is 4 years old and he attends kindergarten and he likes to
sculpt .
I am
married and my husband is a great person. He has a technical mind and he
has hands of gold. So He supports me in my creativity, and sometimes
helps me with advice or in the preparatory work.
As my Father died, my Mom raised me alone. I think she did a good job.
She's my best friend and helps a lot with my children.
Ohhh! Now I have a third son, a Persian kitten and he is only 2 months old.
I made
my anniversary sculpture, N100 and I want to share it here. This is a
portrait doll, I unfortunately can not show the picture of the man whose
portrait it is, but I can say that it looks like him , He loves Italy
and history, that's why he is sculpted as Caesar .
